Frequently Asked Questions

Why select a case or product from Topnotch Woodworks?

Topnotch Woodworks constructs each case within strict tolerances. We ensure smoothly sanded cases, tight miter joints, quality fabrics, and outstanding mounting services. Each case is as important to us as it is to our customer. All cases undergo strict inspections before delivery, to ensure accuracy and cleanliness of mounted items.

What is your guarantee?

Everything Topnotch Woodworks sells is 100% guaranteed. If for any reason a product does not meet your expectations, return it within 14 days and we will refund the purchase price (less S&H and a $25 restocking fee). Items must be returned postage-paid, in its original packaging and condition. Custom-made orders are excluded.

What kinds of wood does Topnotch Woodworks use?

We use ONLY select North American hardwoods. We will never use Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) or laminated pressboard in our products. Topnotch Woodworks strives to produce high quality products that will be treasured for generations to come.

Does Topnotch Woodworks do custom work?

Custom orders are offered on a limited basis dependent on the time of year and the amount of work required. Contact us and we’ll work with you from planning to completion. Custom work requires a longer lead time and increased manufacturing expense, and all orders must be prepaid.

Will Topnotch Woodworks mount my memorabilia for me?

We will be glad to mount your memorabilia. The layout of memorabilia is the most critical aspect of your display case. We pay strict attention to detail to ensure our layouts are evenly and precisely spaced. No one does a better mounting job than Topnotch Woodworks because we have created thousands of display cases and have all the experience necessary to provide you with a professionally completed product. In addition, we clean and polish each individual item as well as the glass case to remove dust, lint, and fingerprints before sealing it.

Why is it important to have all the memorabilia for my case at once?

Having all memorabilia prior to mounting will ensure accuracy and precedence of awards. Because all items are fastened permanently, they require an extreme amount of effort to remove or rearrange. In addition, having all items prior to assembly significantly reduces redundancy and damage to your awards.

Can you help me acquire all the memorabilia for my display case?

We provide the flags and engraving. However, locating medals, ribbons, uniform items, and other contents of the case is up to you. We work with Clare at Five Star Medals: 703-644-4974; she may be able to assist you with finding that special item to complete your display.

What maintenance is required for my display case?

A common household furniture polish will keep the wood of your display case looking new for many years to come. For the glass, we suggest that you use a water-based, nonabrasive glass cleaner with a soft cotton cloth.

I'm ordering online by credit card. What is a CVV?

The CVV (or "Card Verification Value") is a security code. It is the three-digit number printed in the signature space on the back of most credit cards.

How does Topnotch Woodworks ship orders?

We ship UPS Ground to all 50 states, U.S. territories, and Canada. Orders to international locales and to APOs/FPOs are shipped via U.S. Postal Service. We can also ship via FedEx using your customer account number, as long as you contact us and follow our instructions regarding scheduling, shipping labels, etc.

How far in advance should I place an order?

Here at Topnotch Woodworks we work diligently to ensure you receive your case as soon as possible. Typically, a standard order will ship out within 8-10 business days (Feb thru Jul can take up to 30 days, due to heavy retirement season). Custom orders may take longer. If you need your case under short time restraints, please email us at [email protected]. Note that rush deliveries will require higher shipping and manufacturing charges.
